EUA (European University Association)

EUA plays an essential role in representing European Universities towards the decision making organizations of the EU. It has 780 member institutions from 46 countries, involved in teaching and research, national associations of rectors and other organizations active in higher education. Its mission is to provide cooperation among  institutions of higher education and  EU, support research and development, accreditation, quality assurance and evaluation programmes, project of doctorate programmes (DOC-CAREERS). The Association’s mandate in the Bologna process, contribution to EU research policy making and relations with intergovernmental organizations, European institutions and international associations, ensure its capacity to debate issues which are crucial for universities in relation to higher education, research and innovation.

CESAER (Conference of European Schools of Advanced Engineering Education and Research

CESAER stands for scientific excellence in engineering education and research, and the promotion of innovation through close cooperation with industry in order to ensure the application of cutting-edge knowledge in industry and society.

CESAER was established in 1990 and now has a membership of 51 institutions from 26 countries out of which BME is the only Hungarian member. CESAER members are committed to the following core values and guiding principles: High level research-based engineering education; Research at the front edge of knowledge; Close co-operation with the industry towards innovation; Continuous improvement in and integration of education, research and innovation in the knowledge triangle; and Contribute to sustainable economic, societal and environmental development. SEFI (European Society for Engineering Education)

It is the largest network of higher engineering institutions and of individuals involved in engineering education in Europe. SEFI has the mission to contribute to the development and the improvement of the engineering education in Europe. SEFI is the first example of an association directly linking the institutions of higher engineering education, hence independent of national and/or community filters in establishing its policy, as an international forum for discussing problems and identifying solutions relating to engineering education.) AUF [Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie]

The Agency of the Francophone Universities represents those universities where studies are provided partly or full in French. Its priorities: cooperation among Arabian, Central and Eastern European, Francophone and South-Eastern countries, CEE office is in Bucharest. It has 634 member institutions (universities and research centres), their mission is to support cooperation in the field of higher education and research with different programmes, scholarship funds, and researchers’databasis.

OECD-IMHE [Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development-Institutional Management in Higher Education]

ENEN [European Nuclear Education Network]

Its aim is the preservation and further development of higher nuclear education and expertise, has 26 academic institute members. EDEN [European Distance Learning and E-Learning Network]

EDEN established in 1991in England, is an international educational association open to institutions and individuals dealing with e-learning, open and distance education. It has 50 member states from Europe and other continents. Proving versatile expertise, the Association embraces all levels of formal and non formal education and training. EDEN is fostering developments and collaboration in the constantly evolving field of e-learning and distance education by shaping European policy and offering services in a non hierarchical manner. Since 1997, the EDEN Secretariat has been hosted by Budapest University Technology and Economics.
